Delta Reign officially revealed: Mega Rayquaza returns to the Pokemon TCG after more than 10 years

The Pokemon Company has officially unveiled Mega Evolution: Delta Reign, the sixth English set of the Mega Evolution era. The set releases on November 6, 2026, and its biggest star will be Mega Rayquaza ex, returning to the Pokemon TCG for the first time since XY: Ancient Origins.

Delta Reign will also introduce the new Legendary Stadium mechanic, and the set as a whole will contain more than 135 cards, including four Mega Evolution Pokemon ex, 14 Illustration Rares and six Special Illustration Rares.

Delta Reign releases on November 6

The worldwide release of Mega Evolution: Delta Reign will take place on November 6, 2026.

Players will be able to see the new cards a little earlier. Prerelease tournaments start on October 24 and run until November 1.

The set will arrive in Pokemon TCG Live even sooner. The digital release is scheduled for November 5, one day before the physical cards.

Delta Reign is a standard set, so unlike special sets, its booster packs will also be available in classic products such as the Booster Box, Booster Bundle and Sleeved Booster.

Mega Rayquaza returns to the Pokemon TCG

The biggest star of the whole set will undoubtedly be Mega Rayquaza ex.

Rayquaza has been one of the most popular legendary Pokemon in the Pokemon TCG for years, and its strongest releases regularly become some of the most sought-after cards of their generations.

This time Mega Rayquaza returns to the English Pokemon TCG for the first time since XY: Ancient Origins.

The other Mega Evolutions confirmed for Delta Reign are:

  • Mega Golurk ex

  • Mega Malamar ex

  • Mega Golisopod ex

In total, the set will include four Mega Evolution Pokemon ex and six standard Pokemon ex.

Legendary Stadiums: a brand-new mechanic

One of the biggest new features of Delta Reign will be Legendary Stadiums.

Each Legendary Stadium consists of two separate Stadium cards that are played together. Placed side by side, they form one extended illustration.

Interestingly, if you pull a Legendary Stadium from a booster pack, the pack will contain both halves needed to make the complete Stadium.

The whole set will include:

  • 6 Stadium cards

  • forming 3 complete Legendary Stadiums

Conceptually, the mechanic strongly recalls the old LEGEND cards from the HeartGold & SoulSilver era, which also consisted of two halves.

For players, this means a new strategic element, but for collectors the look of the cards may be just as important. Joining two cards into one wide illustration means Legendary Stadiums could become some of the most distinctive cards of the entire Mega Evolution era.

How many cards are in Delta Reign?

The officially confirmed structure of the set is as follows:

  • more than 135 cards

  • 4 Mega Evolution Pokemon ex

  • 6 Pokemon ex

  • 6 Stadium cards, forming 3 Legendary Stadiums

  • 14 Illustration Rares

  • 17 Ultra Rare Pokemon and Trainers

  • 6 Special Illustration Rare Pokemon and Supporters

The six SIR cards in particular could make the set relatively compact in terms of its biggest chase cards.

However, the full checklist has not been officially revealed yet.

Delta Reign will combine several Japanese sources

The English Delta Reign will not simply be the counterpart of a single Japanese set.

Most of the cards are expected to come from the Japanese Storm Emeralda, but selected cards from the starter decks built around Eevee ex, Zoroark ex and Meowscarada ex will also be added.

It is the first English set since Phantasmal Flames to once again combine several Japanese sources instead of almost directly copying a single set.

And this is where most of the speculation begins.

Officially, Delta Reign contains six standard Pokemon ex, while there are more potential candidates in the source material.

Community members analysing the revealed card numbering point out that one of the cards that may not make it into the main set is Eevee ex. However, this has not been officially confirmed at this point.

Similar discussions concern Mega Gallade, among others, as well as some of the Illustration Rares known from Japanese products.

Which Delta Reign products will be released?

The Pokemon Company has already shown a large part of the Delta Reign product line.

The mTCG catalog currently includes:

Booster Box

The classic full booster box, aimed mainly at those who plan to open a larger number of packs or keep the whole box in their sealed collection.

Booster Box (18 Booster Packs)

A smaller version of the Booster Box containing 18 booster packs. It can be an interesting option for those who want to open a larger number of packs but do not need a full booster box.

Elite Trainer Box

One of the most important launch products will, of course, be the Elite Trainer Box.

In Delta Reign, the ETB promo card is Kyogre Illustration Rare, which comes from the Japanese Storm Emeralda. The Pokemon Center ETB will also include a variant with a special Pokemon Center stamp.

The box design itself is already receiving very positive feedback from collectors.

The Booster Bundle will be one of the simplest ways to buy several booster packs without extra accessories.

It is aimed mainly at those who simply want to open packs and do not need the contents of an Elite Trainer Box.

Four booster pack artworks

Four Delta Reign booster pack artworks have also been confirmed.

The packs will feature:

  • Mega Rayquaza

  • Mega Golurk

  • Mega Malamar

  • Mega Golisopod

Each of the set's four main Mega Pokemon has therefore received its own booster pack art.

Early reactions from collectors are positive, especially for Mega Golurk and Rayquaza itself.

Kyogre as the Elite Trainer Box promo card

One of the more interesting decisions around Delta Reign is the choice of promo card for the Elite Trainer Box.

Instead of another Rayquaza artwork, we get Kyogre Illustration Rare, which originally appeared in the Japanese Storm Emeralda.

The card will therefore not be part of the main checklist of the English set and will be released as an ETB promo.

The Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box will additionally include a variant with a Pokemon Center stamp.

The choice of Kyogre has divided early commenters. Some collectors think the promo card should be more closely tied to the set's main Pokemon. Others point out that this makes an attractive Illustration Rare easier to obtain than if it had been placed directly in booster packs.

What has caught the community's attention most?

Judging by collectors' first reactions, the excitement centres mainly on a few topics.

The first is, of course, Mega Rayquaza. For some fans, its return alone is enough to make Delta Reign one of the most important sets of the Mega Evolution era.

The second is the Elite Trainer Box. Its design is receiving very positive feedback, although the choice of Kyogre as the promo card has sparked some discussion.

The third is the open questions about the final checklist. Based on the card numbering, the community is already trying to work out which cards from the Japanese products will make it into the English set and which will be moved to other products or future expansions.

There are also many questions about Mega Gallade SIR, whose inclusion in Delta Reign has not been confirmed.

At this stage, however, it is worth separating official information from speculation. We will only get the full answer once the complete checklist is revealed.

Delta Reign and 30th Celebration on the same day

November 6 is shaping up to be an exceptionally busy day for Pokemon TCG collectors.

On the same day as Delta Reign, another large wave of 30th Celebration products is also due to be released, including some of the most prestigious anniversary sets.

In practice, November could become one of the hottest buying periods in the Pokemon TCG in all of 2026.

When will Delta Reign preorders open?

The official start date for preorders has not been announced yet.

The first Pokemon Center preorders can probably be expected in September, roughly a month before release, if the schedule of previous sets is followed.

Shops may list their first offers at different times, depending on distribution.

Delta Reign is already available in the mTCG catalog. On the set page you can follow new products as they appear, along with prices and availability in shops.

Summary

Delta Reign is shaping up to be one of the strongest standard Pokemon TCG sets of 2026.

The return of Mega Rayquaza after more than a decade will be a huge draw for collectors on its own. On top of that come three more Mega Evolutions, six SIR cards and the brand-new Legendary Stadium mechanic.

For now, the key information is:

  • release on November 6, 2026

  • prerelease from October 24

  • Mega Rayquaza ex as the main star

  • more than 135 cards

  • 4 Mega Evolution Pokemon ex

  • 14 Illustration Rares

  • 17 Ultra Rares

  • 6 Special Illustration Rares

  • three new Legendary Stadiums

  • Kyogre Illustration Rare as the Elite Trainer Box promo

  • a full line of classic products, from the Booster Box to the Build & Battle Box

The biggest unknown remains the full checklist and which cards from the Japanese Storm Emeralda and the Mega Starter Decks will ultimately make it into the English release.

One thing is certain: November 6 will be a very busy day for Pokemon TCG fans.

With Delta Reign and Mega Rayquaza plus a large wave of 30th Celebration products on the same day, the availability of the most popular products may be just as interesting a topic as the cards themselves.
